AUGUST 2022 NEWSLETTER – FITNESS PILATES

 Dear Fitness Pilates Members

Welcome to your August 2022 Newsletter.

Hope you all had a lovely July and have been enjoying the sunshine.

Now is a great time to take your training outdoors, not only will you be working on your tan whilst working on your fitness, you will also be topping up those all-important Vitamin D levels, the vitamin that helps you maintain healthy teeth and bones. Make sure you take a break in the fresh air this week.

Foot update – Healing very nicely and doing a lot more each day, ever since I went back to swimming I noticed in big improvement with my walking gait.  I have returned to driving 😊  its great feeling of freedom after 10 weeks.    However I  have enjoyed my time off, especially sitting in the garden most days but now I am ready to start teaching again.   I have continued to work throughout (admin) and will be returning to my mainstream classes, from the 5th September.

Elaine is unable to cover the Wethersfield class during August, so my lovely friend Marise (who has been covering Coggeshall) will be taking the class from 3rd August.

NEW CLASS UPDATE – There will be a new brand class at Stisted Village Hall from the 5th September at the usual time of 0930-1015 where I will be focusing on beginners, improvers and people who just want to get back to basics.

 Marisa’s Class Timetable from 5th September 2022

Monday – 0930-1015 Stisted Village Hall & ZOOM 1100-1145

Tuesday – 1st Tuesday of the month – Fitness Pilates/Mindfulness – Bradwell Village Hall

 Joint Saviours

Creaky, aching joints become common as we are age – but you don’t have to give in to stiffness and pain.

Your body has more than 230 mobile and semi mobile joints, which are lined with a slippery articular cartilage, ‘oiled’ by synovial fluid and held together by strong ligaments.  As we age the synovial fluid becomes thinner and less cushioning while articular cartilage becomes softer, stiffer and less able to withstand compressive forces, and this is why Pilates can help.

From mid-age onwards joints start to become creaky and aches and pains may set in.  Have you ever done a squat and listened to the creaks as you lower your body down to the ground?

These creaks and pains can lead to osteoarthrosis.  It is not fully understood but is thought to result from an active process in which inflammation and an overzealous healing response result in further loss of cartilage and the formation of bony outgrowths, as a result, joint movements become increasingly painful, stiff and restricted.

Joints thrive on the same healthy diet as the heart and brain, but supplements can also help to reduce inflammation, pain and swelling

Omega 3 fatty acids

Glucosamine and Chondroitin

Turmeric

Rosehip

Devils Claw

Ginger Collagen

Did you know?  Around 8.5 million in the UK suffer from osteoarthritis with most cases developing in people over 50.

I used to take Aloe Vera every morning but for a change I have switched to Turmeric Vitality Bio Fermented liquid –  I take a 15ml each morning, originally  to help with the swelling/inflammation of my foot.  However it has lots of other benefits…..Have a look and see for yourself……
